Bison: America 's Original Health Food
Why bison? There are
lots of good, healthy reasons.
Bison is sometimes
called "American's Original Red Meat." We like to call it "American's
Original Health Food." Our animals are raised on grass, not in
feedlots. That means our hormone-free meat is high in protein and naturally
low in fat and cholesterol.
Bison meat has a
hearty, satisfying flavor and can be used in any recipe that calls for
beef. Bison steaks, burgers, chili and lasagna are particularly delicious.
Our regular customers
tell us they prefer the taste of bison over any other red meat. Many of
them have health issues requiring a restricted diet. They're delighted to
discover that bison meat is listed as "heart-healthy" by the
American Heart Association.
Reader's Digest recently listed bison meat as
one of the "five foods women need most." The magazine said bison
provides "what diet-conscious women want – lots of iron and less
fat than most cuts of beef." And, it added, " Buffalo meat can help boost energy
and lower weight."
